About

NOLA On The Road takes you on road trips in and around New Orleans, Louisiana and our journeys around this globe we live on.

I started this blog as love to the two things I love, New Orleans and travel.

I was born in Chicago, grew up in a trailer park (the kind you tow behind your car) in Oceanside, California. Raised by a single mother who loved travel. My mother had her summers off and packed my brother and me and the dog into a van without air conditioning, long before seat belt laws, to travel to National Parks between the west coast and Table Rock Lake, Missouri where my grandparents retired. I spent the summers of my childhood tent camping the United States, white water rafting and horseback riding, but never having money for hotels. My mother gave us the love of travel on a very limited budget.

The minute I was 18, I wanted city life. I lived in San Diego, Los Angeles and Phoenix before settling on New Orleans before Katrina came. New Orleans stole my heart and changed my life and here I remain, my flag firmly planted in the swamp. I’ve been here almost 20 years now, half my life.

My husband and I live in the 9th Ward of New Orleans, downtown, lakeside, Bywater with our cat.
